Beauty // Wake Up To The Sound Of Your Fleeting Heart.

In all honesty I'm not that happy with these photos. This has sadly resulted in me hovering over the publish button for around half a hour now, debating whether or not I should just delete this whole post and forget about it. However if you are reading this then I obviously just decided to go for it anyway ... lets please all try to ignore the poor lighting though!

As I mentioned briefly the other day I'm not into glitzy (is that even a word?) nails, however since watching The Great Gatsby (twice! I'm such a movie geek, I know.) I've been learning to embrace the more embellished things in life. I've wanted to try one of the Ciate Cavier Manicure sets for a while now (Cotton Candy, anyone?!), so when I noticed that Marie Claire were giving away exclusive mini bottles in this months issue, I just had to get it!

At first glance, I'll admit I was slightly worried. Lets just say I had visions of myself on the floor hoovering the little balls up! However It was surprisingly easy to apply ... and more importantly mess free! In fact I made zero percent mess; which for me is an achievement! All you have to do is simply apply two coats of Cookies and Cream, and then sprinkle the nail cavier on top of the second coat (obviously as its still wet!). Its that simple. I actually really love the effect of it, however as I was unsure of how well it would stay on I "bravely" opted just to do an accent nail on each hand. Having experimented with It though, I would definitely love to attempt to cover all my nails; although perhaps only for a special occasion as its not the most practical thing to wear! Honestly don't attempt eating a sandwich whilst wearing it ... lets just say it doesn't taste like real cavier*!

I'm off now to finish some drawings with my amazing new gold paint! I'm soooo weirdly excited! (I'm pathetic, I know!)

*Oh and for the record I have no Idea what real cavier tastes like, in fact the thought of eating it makes me feel physically sick ... ughh no thank-you!

Illustration // Dreaming of Candy Floss and Lemonade.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you shouldn't blog if you have nothing to say, and I agree that completely makes sense ... however sometimes I like to just write complete an utter rubbish. By rubbish I mean the nonsensical ramblings of my mind, which are lets face it perhaps not the most interesting thing to read. Lets take all of the above for example, I didn't need to write it. I could of just started the post off by simply getting to the point but strangely seeing the blank white box filled me with this need to ramble on: well about quite frankly nothing! (I have blank box-phobia or should I say #blankboxphobia ... no, no I really should just stay away from the hashtags... I thought I could but no, no I can't! I promise I will never attempt that again!)

OK so I went a little bit off point there (or a lot), but I thought I'd just quickly share a few little snapshots of this random illustration I started earlier. Its nothing special though, as although arts kind of "my thing" so to speak, I seem to lack the ability to actually draw ... tragic, I know! I've always loved illustration though despite leaning more towards fine art in recent years, however I thought It would be quite "fun" (honestly It pains me to use that word) to share some of it on here. As you can tell this isn't yet finished, but I've always loved it when other people do sort of "works in progress" style posts, so I thought why not? I never really seem to show the stuff I "attempt" to draw in this sketchbook to anyone so I'm not sure whether or not any of this is even remotely good ... I guess  I'll let you be the judge!

Oh and yeah I weirdly always draw the face last ... I work a little backwards, I know! I'm weird like that!

... and lastly the headphones are from Urbanears in the colour coral (the plattan model). I definitely recommend you buy a pair of these, I promise you will never look back!

Beauty // With An Ocean In The Way.

BARRY M// Hologram Hexagons, Instant Nail Effects Gold,  Mint Green.
... I think that perhaps I secretly wish I was a mermaid although funnily enough I can't swim (A mermaid that can't swim could potentially encounter a few "minor" problems, I know), or perhaps I've just spent too long singing along to "Under the sea" with my little sister (My Jamaican accent is really quite something! eek!), because for some unintentional reason as I painted my nails yesterday I suddenly began to feel a little bit like Ariel; a far less graceful version of course.
I'm going to be completely honest now and just say that I'm not really a fan of sparkly nails, in fact up until recently I would never of even dreamed of purchasing a nail polish remotely sparkly. So why exactly have I now taken a shine to nails that shimmer in the sunlight??? I honestly don't know. Perhaps watching The Great Gatsby has inspired me to be drawn to all things embellished with sequins and sparkle ... or perhaps I simply just wanted to try something new. I'm not sure what started this new phase but I have a feeling I'll be experimenting with some more polishes of the glitter variety soon! (Barry M sequin nail effects anyone? ha!)
Oh and yes I did get a little carried away with The Little Mermaid theme whilst taking photos, my apologies!

Outfit // And You Could’ve Been My Four Leaf Clover.

OK OK I'll admit this isn't your stereo typical outfit post, and in all honestly whether or not it should be called an outfit post is debatable ... but its start right? Anyone? No? Just me? ... OK I'll try better next time! Instead of me posting an incredibly awkward photo of myself looking rather creep-ish whilst standing in front of my rather bland and uninteresting wardrobe, I thought It would be more "aesthetically pleasing" (... and of course I thought I could save myself the embarrassment of sharing my un-photogenic hamster-like face with you all) to perhaps share a few close-ups of dare I say it, "What I Wore Today".

Last week I re-discovered my grey washed out brogues that I bought a couple of years ago from River Island ... and I guess you could say I've practically lived in them ever since (I suppose it makes a change from my battered Chelsea boots that I can't seem to part with lately). Oh and the polka dots, yep Its true I've had a weakness for them my whole life, honestly my whole wardrobe consists of all things dotty ;I have a problem, I know.

A couple of days ago I  purchased a few of the new Maybelline colorshow nail polishes on a whim after seeing how utterly inexpensive they were. The colour I'm wearing is called Downtown Red and its the perfect cross between an intensely rich burgundy and a vivid ruby red. I honestly really love and recommend  it to anyone and I'm must say I'm rather excited to try out the other two shades. (Mauve Kiss and Winter Baby) ... am I the only person to buy nails polishes because of their names??? (Yep I'm weird like that)
